Virtual church
This is my opinion on the idea of the virtual church. I believe in using all the technology you can get your hands on and that you can figure out how to use to spread the word of God. I like having an audio recording of a sermon I really liked or the idea that when someone is otherwise incapable of attending church in person that there might be a video that person can watch of a church service so they can continue to learn more about the bible and there spiritual life
What I don’t believe in is the idea of a 100 percent virtual church where all you do is login and watch the pastor teach or even worse just read his words on the screen
Church is about coming together it’s about face to face contact there is an indescribable thing that happens when people meet (IRL) in real life and face to face there is an emotional exchange that just doesn’t happen when it’s not done in real life
Let’s face it when you decided to become a Christian you also surrender your life to Jesus Christ
If you have not made a personal decision to surrender your life to Christ then this conversation ends here because if you have not became a Christian then you are just playing church
Let me ask you a question when you are raising a child what does that child need more you’re Time, your Money, your Text messages or a Video chat with you
What one of these is the most important to a child’s emotional health especial when they are young?
I don’t think there is any argument here
It is going to be face to face contact it is going to be your personal time spend with them in person
So let’s think about this for a second
When you become a Christian you became a new creation you are a spiritual baby. You have to grow in spiritual maturity just like you had to grow physically
So if the most important thing in a young person physical life is face to face contact. Why would you think it is any different in the spiritual world
Here’s another thing to think about baptism how is that going to happen in the virtual world well we use virtual water
When a person types words on a screen it is too easy for those words to be misunderstood
There is no voice infliction there is physical gestures
There is another aspect of this I don’t understand as well it is the time aspect. The people who attend virtual church I assume don’t have any time. There life is so busy that they simply don’t have time to attend a church service in real life
I don’t believe that is true because my mother told me several times there are thing that are important and there are things that are urgent we well make time for most of the important things
Well you say I don’t have time Sunday morning ok so attend a service at night or attend a service every other week
I myself have at times attend bible studies at night during the week and that was my church
I like bible studies a lot more than the regular church service. I think it has something to do with the idea that a bible study is usually some were between 2 or 3 and as many as 15 people as compared to a church that is between 50 and 500 people. I like the personal aspect of the bible studies much more than the regular church service and that’s ok. As long as I am going somewhere and meeting with a group of people in person on a regular and frequent basis.
